Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday, October 30, accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government of tampering with land records.

The CM’s remark comes a day after the Supreme Court upheld the Telangana government’s rights over 550 acres of land in survey numbers 100 and 101 in the Miyapur area of Serilingampally mandal, Rangareddy district.

Following the apex court’s verdict, Reddy asked the concerned officials to take over the land in Miyapur. He termed the verdict historic and attacked former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, alleging that the latter’s relative, Damodar Rao, with the help of a businessman, Goldstone Prasad, tried to encroach on Miyapur land worth over Rs 50,000 crore.

“They tried to tamper with the revenue records and tried to encroach on lands,” the CM alleged.

Reddy said that while being in the Opposition, the Congress fought against the then government to protect the land and eventually secured a favourable verdict from the Supreme Court after coming to power in Telangana.

Addressing the media, he said that a decision on how to utilise the land in Miyapur would be taken based on the findings of the Cabinet sub-committee.

“If required, the amount generated through the sale of the land would be utilised for strengthening education for the benefit of students,” Reddy said

He concluded by saying that an enquiry has been initiated into the alleged land encroachment by BRS leaders, including Siddipet MLA T Harish Rao.
