Hyderabad: Freshly laid footpaths on Moosarambagh bridge dug up for cable work

Hyderabad: In a shocking display of apathy on part of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials and lack of inter-departmental coordination, the freshly laid Cement Concrete (CC) pedestrian pathways on the newly inaugurated Moosarambagh bridge have been dug up.

The work started a few days ago with contractors reportedly demolishing portions of the newly installed pedestrian footpath to lay cables work. What was promised as a safe haven for walkers has overnight been turned into a hazardous dumping area with heavy rubble, broken concrete slabs, and loose debris left scattered across the footpath.

Frustrated pedestrians complained that just months after the inauguration of the new Moosarambagh high-level bridge, pedestrian infrastructure now hit a roadblock. The reckless excavation has triggered frustration among daily commuters and local walkers as they are left with absolutely no walkable space on the designated pathways.

Angered citizens are demanding that the GHMC hold the executing agency accountable, clear the dumped debris immediately, and restore the walkable tracks before a fatal accident takes place.

A senior GHMC official said the cable work would be completed within a week and agency concerned will restore dug up portions and facilitates for pedestrians.

The high-level Moosarambagh Bridge across the Musi River in Hyderabad was officially inaugurated on August 31, by the Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.
