Raipur: Senior Chhattisgarh BJP MLA Domanlal Korsewada died at a private hospital in Hyderabad on Friday, October 30, while undergoing treatment for a lung-related ailment, a party functionary said here.

He was 78 and is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son.

Korsewada was shifted to the hospital in Hyderabad on October 3 for treatment and breathed his last on Friday afternoon, Dilip Patel, a representative of the ruling party legislator, told PTI.

A two-time MLA, Korsewada represented Ahiwara, a Scheduled Caste-reserved seat in Durg district.

He was elected to the Assembly in 2008 and again in 2023.

Chhattisgarh BJP president Kiran Singh Deo condoled Korsewada’s demise, saying his party colleague had dedicated his life to public service, the organisation and the development of his constituency.

In a post on X, Deo said, “The news of the passing of Shri Domanlal Korsewada, a senior leader of the BJP in Chhattisgarh and the popular MLA from the Ahiwara assembly constituency, is deeply saddening, heart-wrenching, and shocking.”

“His entire life was dedicated to people’s service, commitment to the party organisation, and the development of his constituency. His demise is an irreparable loss to the BJP family and to the politics of Chhattisgarh,” he said.

“I pray to God to rest the departed soul in peace and give strength to the bereaved family, supporters, and well-wishers to endure this immense grief. Om Shanti,” Deo added.
