Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has declined to postpone the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) examinations scheduled for November 6 and 7, permitting the Telangana Public Service Commission (TGPSC) to conduct them as notified.

Justice K. Sarath passed the orders on Friday while hearing a petition filed by U. Satish and six others, who sought postponement citing a clash with the Staff Selection Commission’s Junior Engineer examinations scheduled from November 2 to 6, with centres allotted in distant locations such as Mumbai, Pune, Thane and Nanded.

The petitioners contended that candidates would face difficulty travelling back within 24 hours to attend the TGPSC examinations and pointed out that representations seeking rescheduling had been submitted on October 5, 9 and 14.

Opposing the plea, senior counsel P.S. Rajasekhar, appearing for the TGPSC, submitted that the schedule could not be altered as over 40,000 candidates were expected to take the examinations, compared to approximately 10,000 for the SSC-JE examinations.

However, the Commission offered to consider individual representations from candidates facing a clash and facilitate their appearance in both examinations at their respective district headquarters.

Accordingly, the Court directed the TGPSC to examine such representations submitted on October 30, 5 pm and take an appropriate decision, while refusing to interfere with the examination schedule.
