Delhi Political Showdown: Rahul Gandhi vs Amit Shah as BJP and Opposition Gear Up for Mega Marches

Image: ABP Live

Delhi is set to witness an intense political showdown as the BJP and the Congress-led opposition prepare competing demonstrations over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and allegations of irregularities involving the Election Commission. With Rahul Gandhi leading the opposition's campaign and Union Home Minister Amit Shah launching a sharp counterattack, the political battle between the two camps has intensified. Ahead of the opposition's mega rally at Ramlila Maidan, INDIA bloc leaders are scheduled to gather at Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's residence to present a public impeachment-style proposal against the Chief Election Commissioner. The opposition claims that irregularities in voter list revisions have affected eligible voters and continues to demand accountability from the Election Commission. The next day, opposition leaders are preparing a march from Connaught Place to Ramlila Maidan, followed by a massive public rally. Rahul Gandhi has also expressed confidence that the programme will take place despite possible restrictions, insisting that civil society members and people allegedly affected by voter list deletions will participate. Meanwhile, the BJP has announced a counter-march titled 'Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy' in Delhi. Several Union Ministers and senior BJP leaders are expected to participate in the demonstration, targeting the Congress over its allegations and political conduct. Amit Shah has also criticised Rahul Gandhi, comparing the opposition leader's response to blaming an umpire after losing a match. With both political camps preparing parallel demonstrations, Delhi is expected to witness heightened political activity and extensive security arrangements. Police personnel will be deployed across key locations to maintain law and order during the rallies and marches. The confrontation over SIR and the Election Commission has now become a major political battle between the BJP and the INDIA bloc.
