Hyderabad: The School Education department announced ‘November Special Attendance Month’, directing all its schools to ensure 100 percent students and teachers attendance from November 1 to 30.

In a proceeding, School Education Department Director Dr. E Naveen Nicolas instructed DEOs to ensure the capture of daily attendance of students and school staff through the facial recognition system, with zero schools under the ‘attendance not captured’ category. He also instructed them to strive for the highest possible ‘genuine’ attendance, aiming for 100 percent on working days, with week-on-week improvement.

Officials were asked to identify students who had been absent for five or more consecutive days and ensure individual follow-up through parent contact and home visits wherever necessary. They were also asked to clear pending on-duty entries for staff and resolve FRS device and network issues, if any.

Apart from holding parents and SMC (School Management Committee) meetings to improve regular attendance, Dr. Nicolas instructed DEOs to recognise and felicitate the best-performing and most improved schools, students, headmasters, teachers and other staff. He said headmasters who secure 100 percent attendance of students and staff throughout the entire month would also be felicitated at the School Education department’s head office in Hyderabad.
