Hyderabad: Rapido rider pockets gold jewellery he had to deliver

Hyderabad: A Rapido driver allegedly fled with gold jewellery worth around Rs 70,000 after a person booked a two-wheeler ride to deliver the parcel to his relatives.
According to a Times of India report, Datta Prasad Neetipalli, a manager at Vivo, had booked a Rapido ride on October 27 to transport a parcel to his cousin’s residence in Nagole. The parcel contained a gold side-ear chain worth Rs 62,383, purchased from Joyalukkas in Panjagutta and a rose-gold anklet bought from Giva.
He had instructed his security guard, Biju, to pack the parcel and hand it over to the rider. After collecting the parcel, the accused, G Murali, called Prasad and requested Rs 100 for petrol.
After Prasad sent the money through PhonePe, Murali allegedly blocked Prasad’s number and stopped taking calls from other numbers. The parcel never reached the intended location, and Prasad was unable to get a hold of Murali through Rapido customer service.
A complaint was lodged with the Jubilee Hills Police Station on October 29, and a case was registered under Sections 314 (dishonest misappropriation of property) and 316 (criminal breach of trust) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Murali is currently absconding.
