While special screenings of DDLJ have been happening at multiplexes and PVR cinemas, its return to Hyderabad’s single screens after a long time is adding another layer of excitement for fans. According to information available online, the iconic Ramakrishna 70mm theatre in Abids had screened the film during special milestone celebrations (10th anniversary in 2005), years after its original release in 1995.
For many, watching an SRK film with fellow fans cheering, celebrating and enjoying every iconic moment is an experience of its own.
Hyderabad SRK fans plan grand birthday celebrations
Speaking to Siasat.com, a member of the Shah Rukh Khan Hyderabad fan club expressed excitement about the celebrations planned at Sudarshan Theatre.
He said, “Shah Rukh Khan is not just an actor for us; he is an emotion. His birthday is always special for every SRK fan, and we want to make this celebration truly memorable. Since there is no SRK Day event happening in Mumbai this year, we are bringing that same energy and excitement to Hyderabad.”
“The upcoming screening of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is going to be a beautiful celebration of his legacy, bringing fans together under one roof to relive the magic of his iconic film. We are extremely excited and want to make sure that Hyderabad celebrates King Khan’s birthday in grand style,” the fan club member said.
Meanwhile, the screening at Sai Ranga Theatre in Miyapur is being organised by CinemaScope and its team, with special fan activities planned alongside the film.
Speaking to Siasat.com, a representative of CinemaScope said, “This is not going to be just a regular movie screening. We are planning fan celebrations with paper confetti, special fan edits of Shah Rukh Khan and a 90-minute concert celebrating his journey, right from his debut to his most memorable moments. We want fans to relive those special moments together.”
Talking about the response from Hyderabad audiences, the organiser said they were pleasantly surprised by the positive reactions, especially considering that their page primarily caters to Telugu cinema and its fans.
“I honestly did not expect this kind of response. Celebrating a Bollywood star in Hyderabad is something quite different, but many people have appreciated the idea of Telugu audiences coming together to celebrate Shah Rukh Khan. This is what Indian cinema should be about – celebrating films and artists beyond language barriers,” the representative added.
The organiser also revealed that around 60 per cent of the tickets had been sold already at the time of the conversation. However, the team’s intention goes beyond achieving a houseful show.
“Our main intention is not necessarily to make it a houseful show. Even if 50 to 100 fans turn up, we want to celebrate together, make it memorable and share those moments with everyone,” the representative said.

A little about DDLJ
Released in 1995, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge is one of the most iconic romantic films in Indian cinema. Directed by Aditya Chopra and starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, the film follows Raj and Simran, two young Indians who meet during a trip across Europe and fall in love. However, their love story faces challenges when Simran’s father insists on an arranged marriage.
With its memorable dialogues, soulful music and timeless romance, DDLJ continues to remain a favourite among generations of Bollywood fans.
And this November 2, Hyderabad fans will get another opportunity to relive Raj and Simran’s love story on the big screen while celebrating the birthday of the man who made Raj immortal.
