Over 2,000 tests conducted from 25th to 31st October, 2026 yield satisfactory results

Western Railway continues to accord high priority to ensuring the availability of safe and hygienic drinking water for passengers and railway employees. WR's Medical Department conducted 2,039 drinking water quality tests during the period from 25th to 31st October, 2026, as part of its regular drinking water quality surveillance programme, with all tests yielding satisfactory results.

According to a press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, Shri Vineet Abhishek, the monitoring included 1,812 Residual Chlorine Tests and 227 Bacteriological Tests. All collected samples met prescribed testing parameters, recording 100% compliance. The tests were conducted across Mumbai Central, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Ratlam, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Dahod as well as other reporting locations.

Regular collection and examination of water samples, along with effective supervision, form an integral part of Western Railway's public health management plan. While Residual Chlorine Testing helps assess the effectiveness of disinfection practices, Bacteriological Testing evaluates the microbiological quality of drinking water.

The monitoring reflects the sustained efforts of the Medical Department as well as concerned railway staff in ensuring satisfactory drinking water quality standards. Consistent results across all eight divisions highlight Western Railway’s committent to maintaining hygiene standards and strengthening passenger confidence in railway amenities.
