Nalgonda: Congress MLA from Munugode Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy admitted that development in the constituency had suffered due to a lack of adequate cooperation from the State government.

“Funds are essential for development. However, despite being an MLA from the ruling party, I am forced to fight for funds and projects for Munugode like an Opposition MLA,” Rajgopal Reddy said. The Congress MLA made these critical remarks against his own government at Gattuppal on Sunday. He was speaking after inaugurating a new building for the Sri Beerappa Sheep Rearers’ Cooperative Society, which belongs to the Kuruma community.

Addressing the gathering, he said the State’s financial position was not good. “The State is currently facing a financial crisis due to the previous BRS government,” Rajgopal Reddy alleged. The Congress MLA stressed the need to eradicate corruption to ensure justice for the poor. “Unfortunately, in Telangana, from the Panchayat Secretary to the Secretariat level, no one performs their duties without the exchange of money,” Rajgopal Reddy maintained.
He also recalled that the Congress party had promised to abolish ‘belt shops’ in its election manifesto for the Assembly elections. However, rampant alcohol consumption was ruining many families, he said. “We are currently eliminating these ‘belt shops’ in the Munugode constituency because a culture of excessive drinking has taken root in our villages,” he stated.

Rajgopal Reddy claimed that Gattuppal was upgraded to a mandal and Chandur to a Revenue Division only after his resignation. He added that efforts would be intensified over the next two years to ensure the development of Gattuppal mandal.
