Hyderabad: A 35-year-old transgender person was found dead under a bridge along the Keesara-Ghatkesar ORR service road in suspicious circumstances on Monday.

According to police, locals alerted them after noticing a foul smell coming from beneath the bridge.

Police found the highly decomposed body hanging from a structure under the bridge and identified the victim as Shekhar, alias Sweety, a resident of Bogaram.

Shekhar had reportedly left home in the last week of October and failed to return. Despite searching at several places, family members could not trace him.

Police suspect the death may have occurred three days ago. The body was shifted to Government Gandhi Hospital for autopsy.

The exact cause of death is yet to be established. Keesara police have registered a case and are investigating.
