Hyderabad: Families in Telangana have urged Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to facilitate the repatriation of their kin who were forced into military service in Russia on the pretext of jobs.

Presently, as many as eight men are reportedly trapped in Russia amid the ongoing conflict with Ukraine. According to a report by the Times of India, the Indian embassy in Russia identified three other people from Telangana among those stranded: Vangala Koteswara Rao, Gujju Jagabandhu and Manikyala Naresh. However, separate family petitions on these three individuals were not available for review.

Riddled with debt and isolated from their families, the men have reportedly pleaded for help from Telangana, leaving relatives worried and desperate for government intervention.

Dommati Rakshitha, a nine-month pregnant woman, has sought the Telangana government’s intervention for the repatriation of her husband, Dommati Kishan, from Russia. In an email to the Indian embassy, Kishan’s brother recounted his distress during a brief phone call. “Many bombs are falling here. It is very dangerous. Please help me come back to India,” Kishan reportedly said.

Kishan is among five Telangana natives whose families submitted petitions through Prajavani on October 30.

The petitions relate to Kishan of Rajanna Sircilla, Mukkera Rajkumar of Korutla, Potharaju Vijay Krishna of Warangal, Suppan Swamy of Kamareddy and Edavelli Kanukaiah of Karimnagar.

These incidents indicate large recruitment expenses, mounting debts, non-payment of salaries and uncertainty over their safety.
