Gambling cases can hinder job prospects: Police warns youth

Hyderabad: Kamareddy Superintendent of Police M Rajesh Chandra warned that those caught in gambling cases could face difficulties during police verification for government jobs in the future, as criminal cases registered against them might come up during background checks.

The Kamareddy Police have stepped up action against gambling and constituted four special teams to curb such activities across the district.

The teams will maintain round-the-clock surveillance on gambling organisers and conduct surprise raids on suspected locations.

The teams will gather intelligence on gambling activities and take immediate action wherever such operations are detected. Strict legal action will be initiated against both organisers and participants, he said.

Warning people, particularly youngsters, against falling prey to gambling, the SP said the desire to earn quick money without hard work was pushing some people into the habit, resulting in financial losses, mounting debts and family disputes. Gambling was not a means of earning money but an addiction that could ruin lives and destroy families, he cautioned.

The SP appealed to youngsters not to sacrifice their future for momentary gains and urged parents to guide them away from such activities.

He asked the public to immediately inform the nearest police station or the district police control room on 8712686133 if they noticed gambling or card-playing activities in their neighbourhoods. The identity of informants would be kept confidential, he assured.
