Hyderabad: Some educational institutes in the city are switching to online classes amid the water crisis while others are weighing if the academic year should be cut short.

Madhapur and Hitex 1 branches of Naryana have reportedly issued circulars declaring temporary holidays for junior and senior students until Diwali due to the water crisis.

During this period, online classes will be conducted regularly to ensure that students’ academic activities continue without interruption, the circular mentioned.

Meanwhile, the Telangana Council of Higher Education (TGCHE) is holding a review meeting with the vice-chancellors of various state universities, trying to ensure that the situation does not go out of hand on campuses, the Times of India reported.

Osmania University vice-chancellor Kumar M told TOI that the university has not taken any stringent measures yet, but can switch to online mode in the face of unavoidable situations. OU has over 10,000 residential students along with hundreds of faculty and supporting staff.
