Hyderabad: In a disturbing incident, two young Christian women, most likely minors, were slapped repeatedly by a man alleging religious conversion in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district.

This reportedly happened last month near Dr BR Ambedkar statue in the Almasguda area.

The group of men accused them of luring children by offering chocolates and attempting to convert them.

The young women denied the claims, saying they had come to visit an aunt. They pleaded with them to let them go.

“Uncle, please let me go. I am here to visit an aunt,” one of them begs.

“You can only convert Hindus, not Christians. Check their bags for books,” replies a man. He tries to snatch their bags and uses defamatory language, calling the young women prostitutes.

It is shared by an X account called Christian Voice. Strongly condemning the incident, they demanded criminal action against the culprits.

“We strongly condemn this incident and demand justice for the victim. Violence & intimidation on the basis of their faith must not be tolerated,” read the post.

No complaint so far, verifying: Police

The Meerpet Police, under whose jurisdiction Almasguda falls, confirmed the incident took place, but no person has come forward to file a complaint.

“We are verifying the footage to identify both victims and the attackers. If necessary, police will take suo motu cognisance of the incident,” Station House Officer B Shoban told Siasat.com.
