The incident is over a month old, but the video emerged last evening, angering the Christian community in Hyderabad and Telangana.

In the video, the terrified women, who appear to be minors, beg their attackers to let them go. The incident occurred near the BR Ambedkar Statue in the Almasguda area.

The group of men accused the women of religious conversion by luring schoolchildren with chocolates. When they denied the allegations, one of the men slapped them and called them ‘prostitutes’ in Telugu.

“You can only convert Hindus, not Christians. Check their bags for books,” says the man.

Dalit Christian organisations, people’s groups and political organisations staged a large-scale protest at Badangpet crossroads, expressing strong condemnation of the attack. They assertd that violence against women and religious hatred had no place in a democratic society and called for the protection of constitutional rights and communal harmony.
