Hyderabad: Ten youths from Godavarikhani undertook an eight-day, 400-km cycle rally from Medigadda barrage to Kondapochamma Sagar, to highlight farmers’ distress and express their desire to see BRS president K Chandrashekhar Rao return as Chief Minister.

Led by former corporator and BRS town president Boddu Ravinder, the team met Chandrashekhar Rao at his Erravelli residence and briefed him on their journey and the concerns raised by farmers along the route. They presented him with water from the Godavari River as a token of their journey.

The cyclists said farmers were distressed by the lack of irrigation water and irregular power supply, which had led to borewells drying up and crops withering. They showed dried paddy saplings and explained the plight of farmers. They complained about the Congress government’s neglect of agriculture.

They said farmers, women and people from various occupational communities had shared their grievances during the journey, with many of them expressing disappointment with the Congress government and regretting having voted it to power.

Sharing people’s demand for a change in the government’s approach to agriculture and irrigation, the youths emphasised the need for Chandrashekhar Rao’s return for farmers’ welfare and the revival of agriculture.

In response, the BRS chief appreciated Ravinder and the other cyclists. He assured that the aspirations of people whose views had been gathered during the journey would be fulfilled.
