After Harish Rao criticism, CM seeks feedback on school uniforms

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed officials to collect feedback from students on the school uniforms supplied to government schools.

This comes after Bharat Rashtra Samithi senior leader Harish Rao flagged that poor quality uniforms were being provided.

The Deputy Floor Leader in the Assembly attacked the chief minister, saying the latter boasted of providing international education standards in the state but was unaware of the deplorable state of hostel and residential government schools and institutions. “The uniforms have not reached some schools so far, and where they were given, their sizes were not proper. They are getting discoloured even after a couple of washes,” read his statement.

In pure sarcasm, the Siddipet MLA said the Chief Minister of Telangana had more faith in the weavers of Gujarat than his own state. “Forget tw pairs of uniforms, this government has failed to provide one pair also,” he said.

CM orders student feedback

Revanth, in a review meeting on Thursday, the Chief Minister instructed senior education officials to get students’ opinions and finalise designs based on the feedback.

“The standard operating procedures (SOPs) should include finalising the list of items and issuing tenders to procurement and distribution,” the chief minister said.

He asked officials to prepare an action plan to ensure that all items reach students before the next academic year.

In response, officials informed him that the distribution of uniforms and other items, including ties, belts, identity cards, shoes, socks, plates, glasses, bowls, mats and school bags, was almost complete. Supplies handled by one or two organisations had reached 95 per cent completion.
