Food safety authorities across India are intensifying their crackdown on suspected food adulteration ahead of the festive season. In Punjab, officials raided a dairy products factory following repeated complaints and recovered around 200 kg of paneer, desi ghee and cream. Samples were collected and sent for laboratory testing. The report also highlighted enforcement actions in several other states. In Uttar Pradesh, 120 kg of mawa was destroyed in Baghpat, while Amroha authorities seized 199 kg of suspected fake paneer and 1,250 litres of milk. Kanpur officials destroyed approximately 2,200 kg of contaminated khoya, and 220 kg of suspected adulterated rasgullas were seized and destroyed in Muzaffarnagar. In Maharashtra's Pune, around 1,000 kg of motichoor laddoos were seized and destroyed, while raids were reportedly conducted at 114 locations in Mumbai. The report further cited the seizure of 7,000 kg of suspected adulterated khoya in Delhi and 137,000 kg of ghee in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. These figures underline the scale of the nationwide enforcement drive, although the seized products and samples require appropriate testing to establish adulteration.
