How Kareena reacted to the cuts on Saif’s neck after the attack
Mumbai: Kareena Kapoor Khan remembers looking at Saif Ali Khan in the lift of their Bandra building and saying just three words to him. “Don’t do this,” she recalled telling her husband, who was bleeding after an intruder attacked him at their home. Saif had suffered several knife wounds, including deep cuts to his neck and left hand.
On the latest episode of Koffee With Karan 9, Kareena and Saif opened up to host Karan Johar about that January night. Their elder son Taimur, whom they call Tim, saw his father bleeding too. Kareena remembered his first question clearly. “Abba, are you going to die?”

Kareena recalls trying to flag down an auto
Still wearing the T-shirt she had slept in, Kareena ran out onto the road looking for an auto. She told Karan she was screaming as she tried to flag one down. It was Taimur who accompanied Saif to the hospital along with Hari, a member of the household staff.
The couple also addressed a question that kept coming up after the attack. Where was their driver that night? Saif had a simple answer. His driver had finished work and gone home to his family. Kareena, meanwhile, said it upset her to hear people suggest the attack had been staged when police had already arrested a suspect.
The attack took place in the early hours of January 16, 2025. At Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, doctors operated on Saif to remove a piece of the knife lodged near his spine and treated the wounds to his neck and hand. He returned home on January 21 after five days in hospital
