The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi movement, with both sides issuing competing accounts of attacks involving Saudi territory.
Emergency alerts in two Saudi regions
Separately, Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defence issued emergency warnings in Yanbu and Sharurah governorates on Thursday through the National Early Warning Platform. Residents were instructed to seek shelter and follow official safety guidelines.
The authority later confirmed that the danger had passed in both locations, while advising residents to continue observing safety precautions.
Previous dispute over alleged attack on Madinah
On October 31, the Houthis denied launching a drone towards Madinah after the Saudi-led Coalition reported intercepting and destroying an unmanned aircraft over the region.
The group has also rejected previous Saudi allegations of attempted attacks on Makkah and Madinah, maintaining that its military operations target oil facilities and military installations.
