Hyderabad: An accused in a ganja trafficking case had Rs 7.04 lakh worth of movable assets seized by EAGLE Force after it traced the property’s alleged links to proceeds of drug trafficking.

The action follows the seizure of 62.428 kg of ganja, a Tata Ace goods carrier, Rs 10,000 in cash and three mobile phones from Md Moulana and Md Mustafa. A case was registered against them under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Maheshwaram Police Station.

As part of the subsequent investigation, police examined bank accounts, vehicle registration certificates, ownership records and other financial documents to trace assets allegedly linked to the drug trade.

They identified four movable properties, including a Tata Ace goods carrier, an autorickshaw and two motorcycles, with an estimated market value of Rs 7 lakh. Police also identified bank accounts and froze Rs 4,022 in an account belonging to Moulana.

Following confirmation by the competent authority at Chennai, the properties were forfeited on November 4 under Section 68F of the NDPS Act, 1985.

Officials said the exercise was aimed at dismantling the financial foundations of narcotics trafficking by tracing the money trail and preventing those involved in the drug trade from retaining wealth allegedly generated through illegal activities.
