Hyderabad: A Class 10 student died by suicide at a Backward Classes Welfare Hostel in Warangal district on Wednesday, November 4.

Ramcharan, 15, a native of Siddipet, took the extreme step after being reprimanded by a teacher for not doing his homework. He had also pleaded with his family to take him home.

According to Gajwel Rural Police, Ramcharan returned to the hostel and told the watchman that he wanted to leave immediately.

The watchman contacted Ramcharan’s father, Mallesh, and informed him of the situation. Ramcharan also spoke to Mallesh over the phone and pleaded to be taken home. Mallesh told his son that he would visit the hostel in the evening and speak to him.

However, before Mallesh could arrive, Ramcharan went into his room and ended his life. On finding him lifeless, the hostel staff alerted the police. “The child was hanging by the fan in his hostel room,” Gajwel Rural Police Circle Inspector told Siasat.com.

Based on Mallesh’s complaint, the police registered a case of suspicious death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).
