Telangana HC upholds bail cancellation in sexual deceit case

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court has refused to restore the bail of a man accused of having sexual relations with a woman through deceitful means after finding that allegations of threats and physical assault against the complainant prima facie indicated that he had misused his freedom after release.

Justice J Sreenivas Rao upheld the trial court’s decision to cancel the accused’s bail. The judge observed that his alleged conduct could affect a fair trial.

The accused was initially arrested for the charges of having a sexual relationship with the woman through deceitful means. In February 2026, a trial court granted him bail.

Survivor alleges threats to release private photos

According to the survivor’s complaint, the accused contacted her after securing bail and threatened to upload her private photographs and videos on social media. She also alleged that he used abusive language.

The complaint further stated that on May 14, 2026, the accused and his brothers allegedly abused and physically attacked her after she was persuaded to meet him.

Following the incident, a fresh case was registered at Punjagutta Police Station.

After lodging a complaint, the survivor approached the trial court seeking cancellation of the bail. On October 7, 2026, the court accepted her plea and cancelled the bail.

Accused disputes allegations and questions FIR delay

Advocate Jayaraj Joel Babu Raidu, representing the accused, argued that the fresh complaint contained false allegations intended to harass his client.

He also questioned the 13-day delay in registering the FIR after the alleged incident on May 14. The defence further claimed that the complainant had given inconsistent versions in her police complaint and bail cancellation petition.

Responding to the delay argument, the survivor said she had initially approached Khairatabad Police Station. She also received treatment at Gandhi Hospital on the following day. Her complaint was later transferred to Punjagutta Police Station because of jurisdictional issues.

After examining the arguments, the High Court held that the allegations of threats and physical assault after the accused’s release prima facie showed that he had misused the liberty granted to him.
