Hyderabad: The South Central Railway (SCR) recorded its highest-ever single-day ticket checking revenue of Rs 1.18 crore on November 5 during a special enforcement drive ahead of the Diwali and Chhath festivals.

According to SCR authorities, a total of 11,150 cases of ticketless and irregular travel were detected across its Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions. The Secunderabad Division contributed the highest revenue of Rs 1.02 crore.

As many as 117 women ticket-checking staff members also participated in the enforcement operation.

Officials said the record earnings marked a significant milestone for SCR since the zone’s bifurcation in June 2026. The zone’s average daily ticket checking revenue stands at Rs 33.44 lakh from around 4,373 cases.

The intensive drive was conducted to prevent inconvenience to genuine passengers and curb ticketless travel, officials said.
