Adilabad: Former minister Jogu Ramanna alleged that the BJP MP and MLA had failed to secure funds to develop the district, which was grappling with various challenges. He was speaking to mediapersons after participating in the Dandari-Gussadi festival held at Belgam village in Jainath mandal on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Ramanna charged that the two were unable to secure funds from the Centre to take up developmental activities after winning the elections. He accused Adilabad MP G Nagesh and local MLA Payal Shankar of focusing on commissions from the Congress rather than striving to develop the district on several fronts.

The former minister said farmers were reeling under a crisis due to crop failure triggered by the El Nino pattern. He said crops were saved in certain villages with the help of water supplied from the Chanaka-Korata irrigation project built by the BRS. The credit went to former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, a visionary and committed leader, he remarked.

He regretted that tribals were struggling to reach urban areas due to poor transport facilities. People living in remote areas were consuming untreated water, risking their lives. The BRS government had improved connectivity to interior villages and provided safe drinking water through the Mission Bhagiratha scheme. It had also issued land titles to tribal farmers.

Earlier, Ramanna distributed saris to women in the village and wore a crown made of peacock feathers, drawing cheers from the villagers. BRS leaders Govardhan, Lingareddy, Ram Reddy, Purshottam, Nithin Reddy, Santosh Reddy, Ushanna, Ganesh, Venkanna, Bhojanna, Venkat Reddy and others were present.
