Hyderabad: Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation launched ‘Vastra Setu’ at its head office in Tarnaka on Saturday to collect and reuse unused clothes.

T Vinay Krishna Reddy, MMC Commissioner, launched the programme which aims to reduce textile waste, protect the environment and promote social responsibility, a press release said.

Donated household garments will be distributed to people in need or converted into useful resources through reuse and upcycling, according to a press release.

The Commissioner urged residents to donate old clothes and prevent them from becoming waste. Officials said public participation would support vulnerable groups, improve resource use, encourage eco-friendly lifestyles and strengthen the circular economy, the press release added.
