Saudi Aramco unsafe for investors, lost USD 100 billion: Source

A Yemeni military source has described investing in Saudi Aramco as unsafe, claiming the state-owned oil giant has lost more than USD 100 billion in market value as fighting intensifies between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement.

“We advise all investors in Saudi Aramco to monitor the financial indicators and the value of the company’s shares before making any investment decision,” the source told Yemen’s Saba News Agency.

The source also accused Saudi Arabia of concealing the impact of repeated attacks by Yemen’s armed forces, reiterating its warning against investing in Aramco.

The warning comes amid broader threats from the Yemeni armed forces, which have urged travellers and airlines to avoid Saudi airports, except those serving Makkah and Madinah. They have also warned employees, workers and civilians to stay away from Saudi oil facilities.

The incidents came amid an escalation in Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia since July 2026, with missile and drone activity reported in October against airports, oil facilities and military sites.

Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition in Yemen since March 2015 in support of the internationally recognised government. The Houthis have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and other parts of Yemen since 2014.
