Paytm reported a net profit of Rs 225 crore for the second quarter of FY27 which was almost a 10x rise when compared to Rs 21 crore recorded in the similar period of last fiscal.

The revenue for the second quarter came in at Rs 2,648 crore as compared to Rs 2,061 crore registered in the similar period of last fiscal, recording a year-on-year (YoY) growth of 28.4%.

According to the company, the EBITDA rose 90% on a year-on-year basis with the EBITDA margin expanding to 10%. Paytm said distribution of financial services revenue grew 49% YoY to Rs 912 crore, with key financial services customers increasing 35% YoY to 8.8 lakh. The net payment revenue increased 21% YoY on a comparable basis to Rs 644 crore.

According to Paytm, with a focus on monetisable user base, it gained consumer UPI payment market share for the sixth consecutive quarter, with Paytm UPI GTV growing at more than double the industry growth rate. Monthly transacting users increased by 1 crore YoY to 8.5 crore, the highest addition in nearly three years, driven by better product, stronger acquisition and retention, and AI-led personalisation.

Paytm said AI is increasingly becoming the operating system with fine-tuned models and agents deployed across consumer, merchant and engineering journeys, risk management, collections, fraud prevention and personalisation. AI-led efficiencies helped reduce indirect expenses as a share of revenue to 46% from 52% a year ago. The company has also begun offering its AI platform to enterprise merchants, extending its in-house capabilities to help them grow and engage customers across channels.

Paytm said with a large addressable market, accelerating revenue growth and AI-led improvements in structural operating leverage, it expects sustained revenue growth and margin expansion to drive long-term profit growth.
