Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Tuesday, October 27, continued its crackdown on those extracting and selling water without the required permissions at Fox Sagar in the Jeedimetla area.

In the Kompally outskirts, HYDRAA uncovered an operation where water was secretly being filled into tankers parked among containers near a lake and transported away.

Those involved in the racket had affixed HMWSSB stickers on the tankers to pass them off as Water Board vehicles. HYDRAA intervened to stop the illegal water trade and seized the vehicles.

Meanwhile, checking the racket of illegal water extraction around Fox Sagar, HYDRAA officials uprooted seven borewells on Tuesday.

The agency also exposed how those involved had set up large sheds and used plastic tanks to facilitate the operation.

Locals welcomed HYDRAA’s action, saying they were glad the agency had stepped in to stop those operating borewells near the lakes.
