Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Tuesday, October 27, declared 365 mandals across 31 districts as drought-affected for Kharif 2026. Out of these, 111 mandals have been classified under ‘severe drought’ and 254 under ‘moderate drought’.

Telangana as a whole received a cumulative rainfall of 615.5 mm as against the normal rainfall of 740.6 mm, with a deviation of 17 per cent during June 1 to September 30.

The paddy area reduced by 18 per cent (from 69.19 lakh acres to 57.00 lakh acres), and the current live storage in major and medium reservoirs stands at 179.63 TMC against 585 TMC capacity, a GO said.

The notification shall remain valid for six months unless denotified earlier. Mandals not named yet will be monitored by the State Drought Monitoring Cell and may be added later.

District authorities asked to initiate relief measures

The government has asked district authorities to initiate relief measures such as input subsidy through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), augmentation of drinking water supply, fodder arrangements, cattle camps, and employment generation under VB-G RAM G.

It has also asked the District Collectors to take up restructuring of agricultural credit and non-enforcement of coercive loan recovery with the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC).

The Agriculture & Cooperation Department has been asked to disburse the agricultural input subsidy to the affected farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) within one month from the date of receipt of Central assistance from the NDRF.

The lists of beneficiaries will be published on the websites of the respective District Collectors and the state government.
