Mirchowk Inspector, Home Guard caught for taking Rs 3L bribe

Hyderabad: A police Inspector and a Home Guard attached to Mirchowk police station were caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday, October 27, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3 lakh.
According to an ACB, Inspector M. Kondal Rao allegedly demanded Rs 6 lakh from a complainant in exchange for closing a case registered against their father, avoiding coercive action, and providing support in the future.
The Inspector allegedly accepted a part payment of Rs 3 lakh through Home Guard Abid Ali. The ACB’s City Range-I unit caught them and recovered the tainted amount from Ali’s possession.
The ACB said the two officials had acted improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage. Both were arrested and would be produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
The case is under investigation. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons, the release said.
