Senior IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan to take voluntary retirement

Hyderabad: Senior IAS officer Jayesh Ranjan has decided to take voluntary retirement, nearly a year before his scheduled retirement.
Ranjan currently serves as the Special Chief Secretary for Hyderabad Metropolitan Area. He confirmed the news while speaking to the media. “Yes, I will be applying for VRS (Voluntary Retirement Scheme) in the following months once I complete all critical assignments I am personally handling in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Area,” was his response.
The sudden decision has raised speculation after he was denied the position of Chief Secretary of Telangana. The position is currently headed by Sanjay Jaju.
Asked about his future plans, he declined to comment. However, there are rumours that he may join the government in a private capacity.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has been a vocal critic of the functioning of IAS officers. On several occasions, he has expressed displeasure over certain senior officials allegedly failing to step out of their chambers despite specific instructions.
