Hyderabad: Family members of a 51-year-old housewife Chada Neeraja, who was declared brain dead by doctors, have donated her organs to needy patients under the State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

On October 22, Neeraja, a resident of Venkateswara Colony, Nalgonda, suffered a brain stroke. She lost consciousness and collapsed at her home. Immediately she was shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad for emergency treatment.

Despite best efforts, her health condition did not improve and on Monday, October 26, the doctors declared Neeraja brain dead. Her husband Gorre Narsi Reddy gave the consent to donate her organs including kidneys (02) and lungs (01), which were donated to three patients.

Jeevandan, Telangana has extended its gratitude to the family of Chada Neeraja for their selfless act, which eventually saved lives of needy patients. With this, the total number of organ donations in 2026 has reached 170 in Telangana under the Jeevandan initiative.
