Wicketkeeper-batter Sushma Verma was secured by UP Warriorz at her base price of INR 30 lakh at the Women's Premier League 2027 mini-auction, held in Kochi, Keralam, on Wednesday, October 28. No other franchise raised the paddle for Verma, making UP Warriorz the sole bidder in what was an uncontested purchase.

Verma's last T20 International appearance came roughly a decade ago. She had previously been part of Gujarat Giants during the inaugural WPL season in 2023 before finding a new home with UP Warriorz through this auction.

The WPL 2027 mini-auction featured a total of 146 players going under the hammer, with 27 slots on offer across the five franchises as they look to strengthen their squads ahead of the upcoming season. The session was also notable for the number of prominent names who went without a buyer, particularly among wicketkeepers and overseas fast bowlers.

Which wicketkeepers went unsold at the WPL 2027 mini-auction?

Uma Chetry, a member of India's ODI World Cup-winning squad, could not find a buyer at her base price of INR 30 lakh. Chetry holds the distinction of being the first cricketer from Assam to earn a senior India cap. She had previously featured for UP Warriorz but drew no interest from any franchise at this auction.

Former Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper Taniya Bhatia also went without a bid, with no franchise showing interest in securing her services during the round. Bhatia had represented Delhi Capitals in the league prior to this auction. Nuzhat Parween, who had earlier been associated with UP Warriorz, likewise failed to attract a buyer. Swing bowler Saima Thakor, who had previously turned out for UP Warriorz, went unsold as well. Thakor had made her WPL breakthrough in 2024 but was unable to claim a single wicket throughout the 2025 season.

Which overseas fast bowlers failed to find a buyer at the WPL 2027 auction?

Among the overseas players, Australian fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck drew no bids at her base price of INR 30 lakh, with every franchise choosing to pass. Sri Lankan seam bowler Mithali Ayodhya, aged 19, similarly attracted no interest from any of the five teams present at the auction.

New Zealand fast bowler Rosemary Mair, who was part of her country's T20 World Cup-winning squad in 2024, went unsold at a base price of INR 30 lakh. Indian swing bowler Titas Sadhu, a member of India's Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup-winning side in 2023, also went without a bid. Sadhu had previously represented both Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Giants across her WPL career before going unsold at the WPL 2027 mini-auction.
