Hyderabad: Telangana Director General of Police CV Anand on Wednesday, October 28, launched six digital initiatives for the Crime Investigation Department (CID) to modernise policing and improve investigations.

This includes a Citizen Feedback Centre to collect public feedback on petitions, First Information Reports (FIRs), e-challan services and passport verification.

A Bharosa software was also launched which connects all 35 centres through a unified digital case-management system to track survivors’ cases, counselling, medical and legal assistance, and rehabilitation.

A jail-release monitoring system was launched to integrate prison records with the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) and enable automated alerts and intelligence-based monitoring.

A mobile face-search application was introduced to provide facial-matching results in about 15 seconds. This will help identify suspects, missing persons and unidentified bodies. It has a database of over 9.8 lakh photographs.

A CID website was also launched.

The DGP also released five volumes of Standard Operating Procedures covering bodily offences, property offences, crimes against women and children, special and local laws, and other offences to improve investigations and secure convictions.
