Peddapalli: A Panchayat secretary and others were booked on charges of the mass killing of around 150 stray dogs in Kamanpur village on Wednesday.

Police said a case had been registered against Ramu, the panchayat secretary of the village and sanitation workers for their alleged role in the killing of the dogs, based on a complaint received from Goutham, an animal activist from Karimnagar. Investigations are underway.

Goutham alleged that the dogs were killed mercilessly after being administered some injections as per instructions of Ramu and their bodies then buried on the outskirts of Julapalli village on Tuesday. He claimed that volunteers inquired into the incident and confirmed the mass killing of the animals.
