Hyundai India Posts Highest Ever Quarterly Sales In Q2 FY27

GaadiWaadi -
Hyundai sold a total of 2,19,072 vehicles during Q2 FY27 as domestic volumes rose 19 per cent and revenue got past Rs. 20,000 crore
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) registered its highest quarterly sales volume during Q2 FY27 at 2,19,072 units. The tally was 15 per cent above Q2 FY26 and 23 per cent higher than Q1 FY27 as it set a new quarterly record for the carmaker. The result came during a period of higher domestic volumes, improved export dispatches and record contributions from CNG vehicles and rural markets.
The Bayon became Hyundai’s key new product launch during the quarter and opened what the company calls its golden product cycle. Hyundai said the SUV received an encouraging initial response after its market introduction. The next major launch is scheduled for Q4 FY27 when a dedicated mass-market electric vehicle is set to enter the domestic portfolio. The two models place new product activity firmly inside the second half of this fiscal.
The financial picture was more of a rollercoaster despite the volume record. Quarterly revenue crossed Rs. 20,000 crore for the first time since Hyundai began operations in India and EBITDA margin stood at 9.5 per cent while elevated commodity costs weighed on profitability. Operating leverage, product mix and cost reduction measures supported a sequential improvement in EBITDA margin during the quarter.

The export business also finished Q2 FY27 above the corresponding period last year. Overseas volumes climbed 4 per cent year-on-year and rose 38 per cent from the preceding quarter despite geopolitical disruption in international markets. Hyundai’s reported export volume covers both completely built vehicles and completely knocked down kits which are counted in the quarterly shipment figure.
The rural business delivered another company record during Q2 FY27. The rural penetration climbed to 26.6 per cent which led to the highest quarterly share achieved by Hyundai India. CNG vehicles also accounted for a record 19.1 per cent of quarterly volumes. The two figures show how markets away from major metropolitan centres and alternative fuel models contributed materially to Hyundai’s quarterly sales result.

The domestic operation posted a 19 per cent increase over Q2 FY26 and an identical 19 per cent rise from Q1 FY27. The improvement in the home market was consequently faster than the 4 per cent annual increase reported in exports. Its domestic volumes also provided a major base for the company’s 15 per cent annual increase in total quarterly sales.
The second half of FY27 now places greater emphasis on new products, cost control and profitability. Hyundai expects the Bayon to anchor the opening part of its new model plan before the mass-market EV arrives in the final quarter. Management also expects macroeconomic uncertainty and commodity-cost pressure to persist leaving operating efficiency as major financial factors in the remainder of this FY.
