New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to extend Metro train services until midnight on Friday to facilitate the movement of spectators attending Diljit Dosanjh’s “Aura India Tour 2026” concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 30, an official said.

The Delhi Metro has made special operational arrangements, including extending train services beyond normal operating hours on all Metro lines except the Airport Express Line and Rapid Metro in Gurugram, Anuj Dayal, Principal Executive Director, Corporate Communication, DMRC, said in a statement on Thursday.

The DMRC has planned to extend train services on all lines, except the Airport Express Line, until midnight on the day of the concert, which is expected to attract over 70,000 spectators, the statement said.

Additional train trips will be operated across the network to facilitate the smooth dispersal of spectators after the event. Standby trains will also be kept ready for deployment, if required, to cater to any unforeseen surge in passenger traffic, it said.

In addition, the timings for QR ticket purchases through the DMRC mobile app, Delhi Metro Sarthi, will be extended by an hour in view of the extended service hours, the statement said.

To ensure the smooth entry and dispersal of spectators, the DMRC has made special arrangements at JLN Stadium Metro Station and other major interchange stations. Additional DMRC staff, customer service personnel and Customer Facilitation Agents (CFAs) will be deployed to guide commuters and regulate passenger movement, the statement said.

To further strengthen passenger convenience and safety, additional security personnel will be deployed at JLN Stadium Metro Station. Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMDs) and enhanced security screening arrangements will be put in place to facilitate orderly passenger movement while ensuring compliance with security protocols, it added.

The concert is expected to attract approximately 70,000 spectators, many of whom are likely to use the Delhi Metro to travel to and from the venue. JLN Stadium Metro Station, on the Violet Line’s Kashmere Gate–Raja Nahar Singh corridor, is the nearest Metro station to the venue, the DMRC said.

The DMRC has encouraged spectators to use Metro services for a convenient, safe and environmentally friendly travel experience while reducing dependence on private vehicles.

Earlier, the Delhi Traffic Police issued details of traffic diversions and alternative routes on Wednesday, advising commuters to use public transport, particularly the Delhi Metro.

In a post on X, the Delhi Traffic Police said traffic restrictions and diversions might be in place from 1 pm to midnight on October 30 in view of Diljit Dosanjh’s live music concert at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

“Commuters are advised to plan their journeys, avoid affected roads around JLN Stadium and use public transport (Delhi Metro recommended),” it added.
