New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, October 29, expressed deep concern over the devastation caused by Cyclone Arnab in Andhra Pradesh and the heavy rainfall and flooding in Odisha, and urged the governments to ensure swift relief and rehabilitation for every affected family.

The Odisha government on Thursday deployed more than 300 teams from different disaster response agencies for the rescue operations in flood-hit Ganjam and eight other districts, as Cyclone Arnab left a trail of destruction in several parts of the state.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the very severe cyclonic storm has inflicted a loss of at least Rs 4,600 crore on the state.

Despite implementing sufficient precautions, the chief minister lamented that seven people died in the cyclone, adding that Konaseema and West Godavari districts bore the brunt.

In a post on X, Gandhi said, “Deeply concerned by the devastation caused by Cyclone Arnab in Andhra Pradesh and the heavy rainfall and flooding in Odisha.”

“My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones. My thoughts are with everyone affected, those who have lost their homes, livelihoods and a sense of security,” the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha said.

Gandhi urged the governments to ensure swift relief and rehabilitation for every affected family during this difficult time.
