Adilabad: Two inspectors from the Telangana State Special Police 2nd battalion-Yapalaguda have been suspended following allegations of corruption, harassing staffers and attempting to murder a subordinate. An order to this effect was issued by higher authorities on Thursday.

As per the order, Inspector A Ramesh and M Naresh had been suspended over the allegations. The officials were reportedly committing irregularities in transfers, allocation of duties, permissions, construction works, consumption of fuel, purchasing of medicines and welfare activities. They were reportedly demanding bribes to perform their duties.

Meanwhile, an attempt to murder case was registered against Naresh based on a complaint received from RSI Rasam Rakesh working in the same battalion on September 25. On September 24, Rakesh sustained injuries after a jeep ridden by Naresh rammed into him when he was on his way to home on a two-wheeler near the battalion.

Naresh reportedly nursed a grudge against Rakesh and some other staffers for exposing the irregularities by lodging complaints with higher authorities, seeking probe into the wrongdoings and growing corruption among officials of the battalion. An inquiry has already underway into the misappropriation of funds and graft.
