Bihar Breaking News: SC Setback for Anant Singh, Must Surrender by December 1 in Dularchand Murder Case

Mokama strongman and former MLA Anant Singh has suffered a major setback in the Supreme Court in the Dularchand Yadav murder case. The Supreme Court has directed Anant Singh to surrender by December 1, setting aside the relief he had received from the Patna High Court earlier this year. The case relates to the murder of Dularchand Yadav during the Bihar Assembly election campaign on October 30, 2025. Dularchand Yadav was campaigning for Jan Suraaj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi when a confrontation reportedly took place between the two groups. Anant Singh, who was contesting the Mokama seat on a JD(U) ticket, was arrested in connection with the case and later granted bail by the Patna High Court in March 2026. The deceased's grandson, Neeraj Kumar, challenged the bail order in the Supreme Court and sought Anant Singh's return to jail. During the hearing, the Supreme Court reportedly questioned the High Court's decision, observing that excessive leniency had been shown in granting bail in a serious murder case. The court also noted that the investigation was still incomplete and that the allegations would need to be examined during the trial. Anant Singh's lawyer requested additional time, citing his daughter's wedding scheduled for November 24-25. Considering the request, the Supreme Court allowed him time until December 1 to surrender. The court has also directed Bihar Police to complete the investigation within four months, after which the matter will be heard again. Meanwhile, Anant Singh is facing political challenges as well. The JD(U) has reportedly expelled him following his support for a Jan Suraaj candidate in the MLC election, and a demand has also been raised for cancellation of his Assembly membership.
