Bihar News: SC to Hear Anant Singh Bail Challenge in Dularchand Yadav Murder Case Today in Court Now

Mokama MLA Anant Singh is facing fresh legal trouble as the Supreme Court is scheduled to hear a petition seeking cancellation of his bail in the Dularchand Yadav murder case. The petition has been filed by Neeraj Kumar, the grandson of the deceased, demanding that Anant Singh's bail be cancelled and that he be sent back to jail. The hearing holds particular significance as October 30 marks one year since the murder of Dularchand Yadav, who was killed during the 2025 Bihar Assembly election campaign. At the time, Anant Singh was contesting the Mokama Assembly seat on a Janata Dal (United) ticket, while Piyush Priyadarshi was the candidate of the Jan Suraaj Party. Dularchand Yadav was campaigning in support of Priyadarshi when the two groups reportedly came face to face on October 30, 2025. The confrontation turned violent, and Dularchand Yadav was killed. Anant Singh was subsequently arrested in connection with the case and remained in jail during the election. Despite being behind bars, he won the Mokama Assembly seat. In March 2026, the Patna High Court granted him bail, but the decision has now been challenged before the Supreme Court. In his petition, Neeraj Kumar has reportedly argued that the High Court did not adequately consider Anant Singh's criminal history while granting relief. The petitioner has sought cancellation of the bail order and Anant Singh's return to custody. Meanwhile, Anant Singh is also facing political challenges. The JD(U) has reportedly taken action against him, and demands have been raised for the cancellation of his Assembly membership following his alleged support for a Jan Suraaj candidate in the MLC election.
