What is Temple? The forehead health tracker spotted on PV Sindhu and Shubman Gill

Hyderabad: A few days ago it was badminton ace PV Sindhu and now star cricketer Shubman Gill was spotted wearing a sleek little device pasted right onto his forehead, when he stepped into the nets for practice in Auckland, New Zealand.

Top names in the country have quietly started to test the latest tech-curiosity, a small piece of metal on the forehead, named as Temple by its promoter and co-founder of Zomato, Deepinder Goyal.

So, what exactly is Temple and does the hype around it, days before its November roll-out, justify any health benefits for users? While the jury over its health benefits is still out, the gadget surely has created a lot of buzz around it.

Created by a team linked to Deepinder Goyal, Temple device is an AI-powered health tracker that completely bypasses the wrist. Instead of counting steps or tracking sleep cycles like a standard smartwatch, it sits quietly on the user’s temple, measuring cerebral blood flow, oxygenation, and nervous system strain.

Rather than focusing purely on physical exertion, Temple tracks what it calls ‘Entropy’, which is how hard the user’s body and brain are working to stay cool under physical and emotional pressure. It boils the vital statistics of the user into a single ‘Momentum’ score, promising a deeper window into cognitive fatigue than any ordinary fitness band.

With a hefty price tag and a notoriously patient waiting period for hand-built units, the device is already turning heads everywhere. Whether it revolutionizes how we track wellness or simply becomes the ultimate status symbol for high-achievers remains to be seen.

But if it’s good enough for Sindhu and Gill, the hype train is officially out of the station.
