Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Shamshabad zone team, along with Pahadishareef police, arrested a 36-year-old Xerox shop operator for allegedly forging Aadhaar and PAN cards by altering photographs, dates of birth, names and addresses.

The accused, Ch. Mahadev, a resident of Sriram Colony in Jalpally, was running a Xerox centre named Kavitha A to Z Online Services in Sriram Nagar Colony in Budwel. According to the police, he allegedly turned to the illegal activity to earn easy money as his income was insufficient to support his family.

He allegedly installed online software to alter identity documents and provided the service to customers from his residence in Jalpally. He reportedly charged Rs. 300 for changing the date of birth and Rs. 700 to Rs. 1,000 for altering other details on Aadhaar cards.

The police said some customers allegedly used the forged documents to seek private jobs in factories around Hyderabad, obtain mobile phone SIM cards and access government schemes.

Acting on credible information, the Task Force team apprehended Mahadev and seized 60 fake or altered Aadhaar cards, two PAN cards, Rs. 5,000 in cash, a laptop, a printer, a lamination machine and a mobile phone from his possession.

The accused and the seized material were handed over to Pahadishareef police for further action.
