Hyderabad: Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Thursday, October 29, cleared encroachments from the RK Puram Cheruvu.

The lake, also known as Mukkidikunta, spans 75 acre. It is located in Ramakrishnapuram village of Malkajgiri mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri district.

Permanent structures had come up on 11 acre of the lake and fresh encroachments were reported on another 12 acre.

Locals had submitted complaints through Prajavani regarding the operation of a slaughterhouse within the lake boundaries, pollution caused by waste dumping, and illegal construction activities.

After examining the site, HYDRAA cleared all encroachments and erected fencing to protect the lake.
