Hyderabad: The EAGLE Force has intensified its crackdown on drug consumption and supply networks operating around university campuses, arresting an alleged ganja supplier and seizing 150 grams of the contraband in Gachibowli.

Acting on information received through its toll-free helpline, the agency apprehended two students of the University of Hyderabad, aged 27 and 26, on October 29. Both reportedly tested positive for THC in urine screening. Their questioning led to the arrest of Bikash Singh, alias Jung, 30, a security guard, from whom 150 grams of ganja packed in 24 sachets and a mobile phone were seized.

The suspect allegedly sold small packets for Rs 500 to Rs 1,000 and named 23 individuals, including seven students, as customers. Police registered a case at Gachibowli police station under the NDPS Act and are searching for the alleged upstream supplier.

In an earlier case, another alleged supplier was apprehended, and 10 grams of ganja were seized. EAGLE Force said 24 students had been identified as suspected consumers in the two University of Hyderabad investigations.

Enquiries are also under way into suspected drug activity at NALSAR and GEETAM universities.
