Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) workers on Thursday, October 29, blocked the convoy of Congress MLA Sudarshan Reddy in Nizamabad, claiming he made objectionable remarks about Asaduddin Owaisi.

Speaking to Siasat.com, Nizamabad Town-VI sub-inspector K Sandeep said at least 10-15 workers had surrounded the MLA’s car near 14th Division Cheruvu.

The incident occurred at around 3.30 pm while the convoy from Bodhan was on an official visit. According to the AIMIM workers, Reddy had made remarks against their leader during a field inspection of the lake.

Videos from the spot show party workers marching towards the convoy and surrounding Reddy’s car, raising flags and “Congress down down” slogans.

Police patrol cars and officers intervened to control the situation after the vehicle pulled over to the side of the road. Remaining inside his car, Reddy was seen speaking to the party workers and explaining that he had not made any comments against Asaduddin Owaisi.

Satisfied with the discussion, workers then dispersed with no action taken against them, police said.

In a statement after the incident, AIMIM acknowledged Reddy’s clarification that he made no such remarks. However, the party reiterated that Nizamabad is an AIMIM stronghold and warned that it will not tolerate any derogatory comments against the party or Owaisi.
