Harish Rao accuses Revanth of misleading public on Miyapur land case

Hyderabad: BRSLP deputy leader T Harish Rao on Friday slammed Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for making misleading statements on the Miyapur land dispute. He accused the Chief Minister of attempting to take credit for the prolonged legal battle fought by the previous BRS government to protect 550 acres of prime land.
Referring to the Supreme Court proceedings, Harish Rao said the BRS government had compiled and placed all substantial pleadings, affidavits and documentary evidence before the apex court. He pointed out that the court records clearly established that the legal measures to safeguard the land were initiated during the tenure of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao.
The BRSLP deputy leader pointed out that the dispute had reached the Supreme Court through a Special Leave Petition in 2003, which was converted into a Civil Appeal in 2013. The then BRS government engaged senior counsel CS Vaidyanathan in 2015, and he had represented the State from April 7 that year onwards in the case.
He also cited the Supreme Court’s judgment in Trinity Infraventures Ltd. v. M.S. Murthy, delivered on June 15, 2023, during the BRS regime. The same counsel had represented Telangana in that case as well, he said.
The Supreme Court observed in the Miyapur land dispute that, “It is apposite to discuss the relevant expressions and regulations under the A.P. Abolition of Jagirs Regulations and the Atiyat Inquiries Act. Certain relevant terminologies are being extracted from paragraph 93 of the judgment of this Court in Trinity Infraventures Ltd. v. M.S. Murthy, 2023 SCC OnLine SC 738, for the said purpose.”
Harish Rao said the court’s reference to the Trinity Infraventures judgment, which was delivered during the BRS government, contradicted the claims made by Revanth Reddy at his press conference.
He said while the previous BRS government had taken proactive legal steps to protect the valuable public land for the welfare of the State, the present Congress government was attempting to alienate the 550 acres of prime land to benami entities at throwaway prices.
