Mancherial: The SCCL’s Srirampur Area produced 5.04 lakh tonnes of coal production as against the target of 5.45 lakh tonnes achieving 94 per cent in October. The Area Chief General Manager M Srinivas briefed the performance of the unit for the month to media persons on Saturday.

Srinivas said the Underground mines of the Area registered 1.20 lakh tonnes of coal output, against the monthly target of 1.15 lakh tonnes in the month, achieving 105 per cent. He informed that two opencast mining projects recorded 3.83 lakh tonnes of coal production representing an achievement of 91 per cent.

According to the general manager, the SRP 3A underground mine achieved the highest production with 30,470 tonnes as against the target of 26,000, while the IK OCP recorded the lowest performance, producing 80,242 tonnes when compared to the target of 1.20 lakh tonnes of coal. Underground mines outperformed OCPs overburden removal, achieving 107 percent achievement.

Srinivas noted that demand for coal went up in the wake of the El Nino impact. He opined that the onus of raising the production was on the SCCL officials. He disclosed that all-out efforts were being made to enhance output of coal. He instructed the officials to improve production in the coming days and to meet expectations of the government.
